At the heart of the Good Samaritan Project’s mission to serve with compassion and dignity, the Umoja Unity Circle is a vibrant, community-centered program designed specifically for seniors. Inspired by the Kwanzaa principle of Umoja, meaning unity, and guided by the scripture “How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity!” (Psalm 133:1), this program brings together faith, fellowship, cultural pride, and holistic wellness.
Umoja Unity Circle is more than an initiative — it’s a sacred space where elders are valued, stories are preserved, and connections are strengthened.
Umoja Unity Circle is open to all seniors age 60 and older, with a special focus on low-income, African-American, and historically underserved elders in Tippecanoe, White, Benton, Carroll, Montgomery, and Clinton counties.
Many seniors in our community face isolation, limited resources, and a lack of culturally affirming care. Umoja Unity Circle fills that gap with love, laughter, faith, and a deep respect for every life story. We believe our elders deserve consistent, joyful, and community-rooted care.
As one of the many activities under Umoja Unity Circle, we are excited to share with you the special activity happening on July 9th!
In collaboration with Tricoci University of Beauty Culture, hair and skin care services will be offered to seniors at Rosewalk Village of Lafayette.
This welcoming and uplifting gathering is open to all who seek to deepen their faith, explore scripture, and find strength in community.
Whether you’re new to Bible study or a lifelong learner, you’ll find encouragement, understanding, and unity in every session.
You’re invited to our Monthly Senior Brunch—a warm and welcoming gathering for seniors to enjoy good food, great conversation, and meaningful connection.
Held once a month, this special event offers a chance to relax, make new friends, and stay engaged in a joyful, community-focused setting.
The Good Samaritan Project and Blooms & Petals teamed up for the Glean & Give initiative—gathering remaining Mother’s Day flowers and transforming them into vibrant bouquets of love.
With the help of volunteers, dozens of arrangements were delivered to senior communities, women’s shelters, and caregivers across Greater Lafayette, sharing beauty, hope, and a reminder that no blessing should go to waste.
